I have acquired a model 201 machine. all I know is it was made in 1939 s/n AF19542B. it needs a motor. doesn't have a bobbin. more than that I don't know. but its yours if you want it. pm me.

Too far for me but thanks for the very generous offer!
Replacement motors or hand cranks are both easily available if you want to get it going. They use class 66 bobbins which are still available new as well. The 201 was Singer's finest domestic machine and is capable of commercial duty as well. It will make a great piecing machine.

I really want one of these, but it's a long way from Washington State to New York! I expect one will show up here sometime - just bought a 185j at our local quilt show, and I haven't had time to look at it yet.

I have a 201, which my son completely re-wired recently. I don't need another machine, but I'm wondering what it would take to fix it! It is entirely possible that it could be easily repaired. Unfortunately, we're in Florida, and that's also a very long way away from you. Good luck with it!

Wow................Thank You for being so generous, with a hand crank it would be awesome, sigh, but the distance is the stumbling block ...... that 201 and I were 'born' the same year.

It is hard to make a 201 into a hand crank if it has a potted motor.
