vintage machine with no name
I was given a sewing machine and table. It had a manual for a 15-91. However I just looked up the serial # Z3351009, and it looks like singer didn't have series for their machine. Then I noticed that although the foot pedal says it is singer, the sewing machine has no manufacturer's name. I'll post a picture if I can figure out how. It looks exactly like a 15-91 except for decal & the serial number is under the bed of the machine instead of on the bed. Looks like a generic 15-91!

I have had two like that. Theory is they came from a dealer who never put his own mark on them. One looked like it had never been used. It may be new old stock except it some how has a Kenmore motor on it. Go figure.

Yep, nice clone. But where's the needle plate? I hope you got it. Sew-Classics has them if your's is missing.
As for ID, look underneath for J- A numbers or makers names. My favorite clone ( my avatar ) is stamped JUKI all over the under side. I've seen pics of some with JANOME underneath.

Yes, I do have the needle plate...I found another plate that I think is used to cover the feed dogs for free motion quilting. I'm gong to try that when I finish cleaning it up. I'll give a better look underneath for a name. The only # I've found is the Z3351009...how would I look that up since it isn't a singer? I love this machine & have sewn on it for 5 years thinking she was a Singer 15-91

As for dating, you probably won't be able to narrow it down any further than it likely being from the 1950's or a little later. These were made in Japan after WW2.
