Default Vintage Singer

Hi all. New here looking for any info on a Singer machine in a desk. The serial no. 047015. No letter prefix. It may once have been a treadle but it has a small electric motor with foot pedal and a light. Appreciate any info.
Thanks
.

You are throwing me for a loop. ISMACS database starts with bigger numbers in 1871. Are you sure there isn't something else hiding there? are you certain it is a Singer. Pics would be quite nice.but they need to be about 650 pixesls on the long side. Quite small.

welcome board.

That serial number is G47015. It is a Singer 15, issued on June 2, 1910.

Don't get water near your decals. They will silver. Sewing machine oil is great for cleaning them.. Don't get aggressive.. 15s are strong machines.

I have to admit to using soapy water in grimy cases, but leon is right, if the shellac is worn decals will suffer. Shellac can take a well wringed up cloth, but it's important it doesn't leave any dampness. The same for polishing these machine, it works great, but be careful when going over the decals, if there is a good layer of shellac over them it's safe. Tiffany decals are very decorative, colors and swirly guilding like no other.

I don't know how you manage with bobbin tire and winding on that one, but I guess it can be sorted out. SewClassic has a clever way when it comes to measuring drive belt. Direct download here if it works.
