Default W and G treadle base ( mostly)

I have passed on scores of Singer treadle bases. Even ones with cabinets,If they are made into tables,,,OK I can't save them all. But last weekend this showed up on FB marketplace. I am guessing it is a Wilcox and Gibbs from the 1860s. it is missing the treadle plate, the pittman arm and the drive wheel ( 1"wide flat belt).

Yeppers I brought it home. Could not let it me a plant stand.

Looks good. The peeling veneer is an easy fix.

I keep looking at this post and wondering what you can do with that base other than a plant stand. I'm assuming there aren't many of them out there, so finding the missing pieces will be difficult if not impossible. So, if it's not going to be a plant stand, what purpose can it have?

Maybe I'll find someone who needs it.

I believe that is a Wheeler & Wilson No. 4 base. It sure looks like the one at https://www.fiddlebase.com/american-...heeler-wilson/

I know of someone in Norway who has a what is believed a #3 head only - I wonder what shipping would be.

Janey - Neat people never make the exciting discoveries I do.
