Which way to put the spool of thread on the pin?

A lot of it depends on how the thread is on the spool. I solved my issue by getting a tall thread stand/holder that you place behind the machine. It doesn't matter the size of the spool, or how the thread is on the spool. My embroidery machine I had to lay the thread on its side, or in the thread stand.
