Thanks for the info, Charlee. I picked up one of these machines this summer -- in it's original 6-drawer cabinet. Took me the longest time to find that it's a blended machine. Cleaned and oiled it -- runs so smooth -- no resistance. Didn't know about the needle size, so welcomed this thread!

I recently bought a Singer Red Eye and had it cleaned and checked out by sewing machine repair shop.
He told me to just use the Schmetz needles.
Haven't tried it yet.

I tried a regular singer needle, it is too big to go into the needle clamp, it needs to be more round at the top. I turned the machine almost upside down and took a flashlight it appeared to be a small round hole.

It has a round bobbin on the end (like a 15-91) but the bobbin case don't come out, you have to pull out a little finger then insert the bobbin. Thanks
Wow, you are a very lucky Gal. I would love to have Her. Beautiful Machnine and has been well taking care of.Granny

I got the singer 9w going. It took a while, the handwheel turns away from you, it took a while to figure that out. Also I had the bobbin in wrong, it has the tension on the right, at first I didn't even see that. Thanks everybody for your help.
