My grandma's house was a Sears house. We found one similar in a catalog on line. It was awesome...

My mom had one just like it...along with that ironing board. I just couldn't say no. However, my new house's theme is supposed to be, "1918 loggers' camp cabin, with timely updates." The O&M stove sort of fits in, but I really don't want to go totally, "nifty fifties." I'm considering building an icebox refrigerator that looks like a large, camp, icebox from the 1920s. Here is a place in Santa Rosa you might check out (although I'm not sure how far from you it would be):
    http://036d885.netsolhost.com/produc...ro-appliances/

I think their appliances are coming from:
    http://www.elmirastoveworks.com/
You could enter zip codes to see if you can find a closer dealer.

They might all be ridiculously priced (I haven't really checked closely) but their collections are fun to look at.

    Good luck in your search.

There's usually stamped lumber in the basement and every once in a while people saved the blueprints. People usually know they are Sears Houses and get so excited about them.

And you know what? Every stinkin' one of them had a sewing machine inside.

There is picture taking and a database she and other Sears collectors are building.

Our girls days involve hitting thrift stores looking for sewing machines and then driving the nearby neighborhoods looking for Sears houses.

It all started because my parents bought a house that turned out to be a Sears house. It snowballed from there.
That sounds like so much fun! And ya don't even have to buy them! Like Winnie the Pooh says about the honey, "I wasn't gonna EAT it, I was just gonna TASTE it." Hee, hee!

Thanks NapaJohn...we're pretty much in the same neck of the woods. I'm passing through Santa Rosa tomorrow, as a matter of fact. I'll check out that site tonight.

Thanks for this. I'm a flooring estimator, and I deal with Armstrong products every day.
It was really cool seeing this vintage advert.
I'm going to send a copy to the Armstrong rep, I'm sure he'll get a kick out of it.
