Default Can anyone tell me what this Singer thingy is for?

Okay, I'm stumped!! I bought a box of singer items at an auction and this part was in the box. I don't know what it does.... or how to use it.... or what machine it fits.... or anything!! HELP!! The box did have a zig-zag attachment for a 221, a buttonholer + extra templates, several attachements (ruffler, binder, etc.) and this odd attachment that I don't have a clue about. So, please, all you experts, enlighten me, please.

Thank you, Pink Lady. I'd never seen anything like it before.... a pre pinking shears gizmo!! Who would'a thought. I couldn't see in the video you posted how it fits on the machine and if there are any parts that have to go with it. So, I'll have to play with it to see how it works. Yippee!! I'm excited now. I wanted the buttonholer and the zig-zag attachment... but I got this surprise, too. I love auctions! Especially the ones that have sewing stuff.

The blade looks a lot like my rotary cutter pinking blade. That is a neat attachment!

You can also get a plain blade for it. Maybe I should say that in the past you could get one. I have a friend who said that many years ago her family used it with the plain blade and cut strips for rag rugs -- great power rotary cutter!

That is a fun video. For those of you who wonder how it works, since the video didn't show the other side -- Nanna's picture shows an arm similar to that on a walking foot which connects /rests on the screw holding the sewing machine needle into the needle bar. The up and down motion of the needle when the machine is powered is what makes the pinker "go".

OH MY! Your pinking attachment is so much more modern than mine. You have to attach mine to a table and crank it.
