Default would you trade?

As I have mentioned before, I'm thinning the herd. I have an Elgin 2468 for sale (same as White 2468, a Japanese zigzagger) I have no extra feet or accessories for it. I bought a manual online for it.

A lady called and wants to trade for it with a Bernina 830 with no accessories, manual or extra feet.

I think the Bernina would be easier to sell than the Elgin.

Would you trade?

If the Bernina was in good working order and has the foot pedal/bobbin case etc with it. If you have to find parts to get it working, they might be expensive.

It needs to have a good working foot pedal with it. They tend to break. I had to buy a new one for mine.

I would go for the Bernina IF its in working order and all the basic parts are there. As Tartan says, Bernina parts can be expensive. That being said, I just got an email from them and accessories (feet, etc) are 25% off in August.

Four words:

Vertical top shaft gear.

I'd keep the Elgin - if you were planning on sewing with the machine. If it's just a money thing check the 830 with a flashlight, make sure the gear is all there. It would resale. Obviously...

Thanks, she just bought it outright. One more gone. Now I need to drag out another machine and take more photos and do more posts.

Thanks again.
