Well, ladies and gents, I said in my last post, that I was going to try putting some of my triangles together, to see if I could do it, without the triangle template, and I did it. I am so happy, because I have always thought that the tris were like frosting on a cake. So, here is a picture of the tris that I got sewn together. I am using glitzy fabric here, also, to accent the glitz thread in the blocks. I may have to wait till Christmas and look for a few more pieces of glitz fabric. But, I am happy with it.

Well hi everyone thanks for the welcome. I now have one block finished. only about a million more to go. There are such beautiful blocks on here. WOW! Just page after page of one more beautiful than the next. I just hope I can come close to some of them.
I got the name meanmom from a running joke with my kids. My sisters and SIL always told out kids when they were little and mad that we wouldn't let them do something that we learned it at meanmom school. I now have 4 beautiful, wonderful adults. 2 Married, one still in college. |
Spartan -- by glitzy, do you mean fabrics with silver or gold?? I may just have some here in Maine -- I'll check

Yes, I am using fabrics with silver or gold, but only in the triangles. The center blocks are being quilted with the glitter thread. And you can't see it, but the black that I am using for the cornerstones, has gold running through it. Thanks for checking on fabric. Just PM me.

Spartan Quilter - great work on your tris. How in the world did you get them so even without the ruler?

I am just getting started here. I had planned on joining in the beginning but you know how that goes. I have a bunch of civil war fabric from an exchange. I figured you guys were the experts. What is the difference between civil war repos and 30"s repos. I have some fabric from yard sales and I'm not sure which it is? I have 4 blocks finished. Thanks for your help.

Pat, the original Jane Stickle used the fabric she had on hand. This is your quilt and you make it the way you want. There is no rule that says you can't mix Civil War and 1930s repos. I am judging fabic by their weave (no loose weaves for me), color and pattern. Let your imagination be your guide. I'd love to see the 4 blocks you have completed.
