BBs ... just started reading at post #391, as I knew there'd been some BB discussions earlier ... and finally found them! And now you all have me drooling over those cookie recipes!! :)

I won't comment on EVERYTHING from the last 140 posts, but a few things ...

JanieW ... post #420 ... that is indeed my Snowman that crashed on my floor. Good super-sleuthing you did! Mine was oooold and I miss him.

Was laughing when I saw all the condolences and was waiting for someone to have a wake for him. Granted there were cookies ........ :D

DublB ... post #455 ... I have the same recipe, called Hello Dollies, though I seldom make it as is. Lots of variations in the layered ingredients depending on what's in my cupboard and what strikes my fancy. One thing I do tend to do ... cut maraschino cherries in 1/2, and place on top of the coconut, so they'd be in the middle of each square. Then top with the condensed milk. Once cut, they make a pretty presentation on the cookie plates. Usually do 1/2 red 1/2 green for variety!

JeanieG ... post #458 ... I'm much like you, and try to pre-fab recipes when I can. I don't have a lot of space, so anything to minimize the clutter, mess and ongoing dishes we create when baking/cooking, I'm all for! Have you tried the "recipes in a jar"? You can mix up your dry ingredients long in advance, and then just like a cake mix, the rest happens when the time comes. Or another thing I do, when measuring ingredients, I'll measure for more than one at a time. Works good for muffins, cookies, fruit loaves, etc. I keep the dry mix in my baking drawer and then minimal to do when the time comes. Another short cut ... make up the cookie batter, and make the cookie drop balls then freeze on the cookie sheet. Store in a plastic bag or tupperware. When baking time comes, just set on the cookie sheet and bake from frozen.

DDamsel ... post #471 ... You got my attention with almond extract!! I'm thinking these are bar cookies, that you flatten the dough on the cookie sheet? And oooooooh for your PC Block display. Found your lace yet?

Now, QuiltE, after all those 'red' ribbons that's blue stateside, we expect you will gift us with perfect bonus blocks...just remember yours truly here, has never won a ribbon, so feel free to throw it out or whatever....mine have all been made to 'gift' them to others and have kept several for ourselves. More for the 3 kids to have 'discussion' about after we are both gone..who gets what??

Oh dear! you just put a lot of pressure on me, QNSue!!
... I hope mine are not a disappointment to you and all.
As I said, simplistic and significance is what I'm working on.
I'll explain it all later ... but for now, SURPRISE! :)

Senility has set in for sure!
I found the post (#475) where CarrieM verified the BB participants.
And I was sure there'd been a post summarizing the fabrics of each of those people.
Can't find it!

As for me ... no favourite colours ... I love them all!
No specific fabric lines ... don't want to be prejudicial!
And cream or white or off white or none of the above!!!
I'm just looking forward to receiving 12 blocks for the memories and then to have some creative fun.

Off now to look for some of the block grouping photos to refresh my memories of what each of you have been using, and get inspiration for my fabric choices.

A quick note here today--still haven't caught up with the posts but I know you are all well :-)! SIL DS and four grands are at the Vikings Packers game in Twin Cities today. Excitement all around. That left some of us at home to bond doing chores. It will be later in the evening once FB fans get back from their 2 1/2 hour drive. Tomorrow morning A&H head back to Wisconsin.
Last night A & I worked on GS's Tshirt quilt. Got the layout down and shirts cut. This will be Amy's first quilt at age 40! Maybe there's hope for her after all. Now to write up detailed instructions with an EQ diagram as a guide. Okay off to do that. Take care friends.

Looks like the time had to be "right" ... and when DS/DGS "needed" a t-shirt quilt, she was ready to go into action! :)
She'll leave knowing that you're only a phone call or email away when she sends up a smoke signal for SOS!
We'll all be rooting her on ... and looking forward to seeing the finished product!

ENJOY all, OKSGlad ... while you have them!

Thanks QE--Here's the drive by post!!! You know I treasure them all dearly which is why I can deal with a mudroom like this after a successful morning of sledding--photo 1. Photo 2--so nice that layering is "in style". Photo 3--poor Bob the Snowman is slightly off balance by the whirlwind that just passed through.

Wonderful to have a mud room for all the coats, hats and boots!! As you all know, I grew up long ago, before mud room times!! Granddad and seven other kids with parents lived in a two room house growing up...our teenage years was with a five room house and a path out back!! Boots were back of the door and coats were in the bedrooms!!
Yes, I think that snowman was hit by a tornado...of traffic. Oh, the memories that room could tell...

Just catching up on the chatter, what I would give for some cool weather. We have Cyclone Freda sitting out in the Coral Sea at the moment and weather conditions are awful, it is dark and stormy and rainy here. It is 8am and I have to have the lights on in the house to be able to see anything.

QuiltE I love you dressing gown, will definitely have to check out that website.

I have spent the last 3 days cleaning out my scrap bins, got the go cutter in action and cut hundres of 2 1/2 inch squares, then dumped all my strings onto my table and started making QAYG blocks. I made 42 which is a good size for a lap quilt but still had a huge pile of strings so made another 42. Now I just need to sew them together and I will have 2 snuggle quilts ready. I had to put my embroidered quilt on the back burner as I ran out of the main embroidery thread and the shop doesn't reopen until the 14th:thumbdown:

Maybe I should bake cookies today, the only downside to that is I have to eat them and there goes my resolve to lose a few pounds;)

Well, I must say that browsing thru my fabric I came across a piece that I'll be using for the revised block...not the same tho......the Guy upstairs heard about my dilema and helped me out...I AM SO HAPPY!!!!!!!! now I can pack my fabric and get on with the rest... Oksewglad, that truly is a mudroom....my gosh...all those boots!!!
QuiltE..I have a very soft velour fabric that I'll be using...I just hope my serger can handle it...if not I'll just make a visit to the fabric shop...I'm sure I'll find something :)...

QuiltE 12-30-2012 04:03 PM

Oh goodness!!!
I was first thinking you were doing the BBs with the velour ... then realized it was the dressing gown! :)
Look forward to seeing your creation!
You're going to be a busy little bee once you get to NC ... be sure to keep Tuesday nights open for FUN FUN FUN!!! :D
