Honchey: Your #23 is beautiful. Love the green. I pressed open my seams on #24 and wow what a difference. Thank you for such a useful tip. :D

janRN 10-20-2010 05:03 AM

Very pretty blocks, ladies. I think #24 was my favorite to piece so far. Will post later.

Honchey 10-20-2010 05:42 AM

Sslama, I love the color combinations in #24. Love it, love it , love it. Anne

Okay, I just finished # 24--I was a little concerned about the contrast between 2 of the fabrics but after seeing it all put together I was relieved it looks fine. Anne

Very nice blocks, y'all! Here are mine. I don't like my #23 (not at all!) and my #24 is still a teensy bit too big. It has had many "fitting adjustments", but needs yet another.

Honchey 10-20-2010 12:04 PM

Weezie, I also had "Adjusting" problems. I'm just wondering how long it took Laurie to do this quilt--and she did it by hand !!

I love your color choices on #24, especially since brown is not a fav of mine. Good job. Belles

violetsfarm 10-21-2010 05:15 PM

Thank you Belles. I am beginning to really like the browns and tans. I was always strictly a "white" fabric person till I saw some brown quilts some of the other members have made. Violet

Thank you RW quilts. Violet

All very pretty folks. Wish I could catch up. Just too much homework. Haven't sewn or quilted in over a month. Arghhhhh!

Ahhhhh, Don't worry, you'll get them done when you do have the time. Homework is more important right now. We will all be waiting for you!!!

Here are my 23 and 24. I've discovered that while I"m doing scrappy, I"m trying to stick with the suggested colors. It's hard to draw outside the lines!

violetsfarm 10-23-2010 04:36 AM

Cyndi H. your blocks are just beautiful. Violet

JeanieG 10-23-2010 09:58 AM

Love the blocks!

I have been searching for Blocks 23 and 24 photos and discussions on "Farmer's Wife Quilt" for a few days. Duh....a search on FWS could have gotten me here days sooner. Also Block of the Month/Week would have worked. Anyway, we are on an RV trip, so will post when I get home later next week. Glad I found you!

Debo 10-23-2010 06:41 PM

You have all done such a good job. I need to get mine finished. Running a little behind.

sew cornie 10-23-2010 07:16 PM

I'm behind by two weeks. This is the second time I've fallen behind and I've found it's taken the fun out of keeping up with the photo pages. I hope I don't offend anyone by saying that. Your blocks are all so gorgeous! But I put my chin in my hand and sigh, and wish I was caught up. I'm headed for a sewing retreat next weekend (my first one - hooray!) and will not only catch up but try to get ahead because the holidays are coming soon and I'll need to reclaim my dining room table from my sewing machine. Keep up the good work everyone!! They really are all beautiful!

Picked up more novelty prints in Indianapolis, IN., this past week for the fwsq. Loved staying there and shopping in quilt stores, yarn shops and needlecraft stores. Put together another 3 blocks, pasting them on outline blocks of each; will sew them this week. Back into home routines now. (It was fun being pampered for a week!!! No cooking, no cleaning, no chores!!)

Cyndi H 10-25-2010 05:57 AM

QuiltingNinaSue - I love the fussy cutting on your fabrics! Did you do this with all your blocks? Now I have to go back and look. Love it!

rwquilts 10-25-2010 06:11 AM

Great job ladies on the quilt blocks! I love seeing what each person chooses to use, fabric-wise...

QuiltingNinaSue 10-25-2010 11:02 AM

Yes, Cynthi H, I have fussy cut many of my block pieces for fwsq; some are more subtle than others. Am trying to let each block "talk" to me, in modern terms, through the name of each block, for each block as it relates to my memories of growing up in the Midwest on a farm.

I grew up with grandparents that owned the "old" things and times and have no desire to make it a repo of the 1930s, etc.,or any other time travel.

I do admire the author's work and skill in making the quilt blocks that she did. It is so interesting to see all the different blocks of this group, so lovely, so colorful for each of our own quilts made with our own fabrics following the block patterns. Not only am I having fun, I am also learning from others examples of excellent work.

This is my #23 Country Farm. my #24 is in my FWS tote bin to move to new house. It is nearly put together, but I have to finishing packing for the move, so I am on a break for a couple weeks. Then I will be quilting in my new room hopefully by Thanksgiving.

I'm right there with ya!! :( It's been over a month since I've even walked in my sewing room other than to pass thru or aim for the washing machine... This is my 1st free weekend & as soon as I get off here, am hoping to start back up w/19 & 20 where I left off before I started teaching again...
