Thank you girls for your kind comments. I can't wait to see them all together myself!! :D I am planning on making each set of four out of a different set of fabric's. Do you think this will go together okay, or should I stick to using one or two of the same color's in each block? I am just not sure what to do here!! But I am having FUN!!

I'm new to this group, and am still finding my way through all the threads. This is a project that I've beeen thinking of doing, so I'm in. I have made one NY Beauty, and it is one of my favorite quilts. I'm looking forward to starting in on a new one. It will be fun to piece along with everyone.

I need to get some legal sized papers and then I am in printing business. I finaly have the size right.

I second this ruler. I have both. Take a moment to see how it is used to trim the piece to 1/4 inch before sewing on the next piece. This has taken my paper pieicng to a higher level.

I recommend buying an "Add A Quarter Inch Ruler". I ordered the 6 inch one from connecting threads then ordered the 12 inch one. Here is what it looks like.....

Boy, I do not know if I am going to be able to join this or not. Everyone has been soooo helpful to me regarding paper piecing. Here is my first attempt at PP. It is a PP block for the Block of the Month with Quilt Story. It is called Wild Block. WHEW!! I feel like I did enough sewing and unsewing on this that it should be a Queen Size quilt instead of a block. I will have to admit that I probably made every error possible while doing this. It was frustrating but ended up being fun. I like the way it turned out. It is true that you need to practice this PP thing. I will practice a bit more and then decide what to do. Again thanks for all your comments and encourgement. What is the trick to not wasting fabric? Maybe I had my pieces way too large. ?? Any ideas?

I have been planning on trying this for a while now.

sustraley, I always make an extra copy of the pattern when the pieces have odd shapes. I use that extra copy for cutting templates. It prevents from waisting much fabric. Just make sure to cut the right way or you'll end up with a mirror piece which doesn't fit. Ask how I know :D
Your first block turned out great! |
