So I've come to think that I might possibly have a caffeine addiction. I took notice back in December, but it was quickly fixed with Earl Grey Tea and soda.
Then I started back at school, started drinking the Ice Chai, and last weekend and this weekend, when I don't have the tea, I get severe headaches.
At first I thought I was dehydrated, so I've been drinking water and what not to reverse that. That did nothing, so then I talked to my Mom and Dad about it and they both think it might be the caffeine intake. Chai tea has a very high caffeine rating, higher than most coffee. I say that because I've tried drinking coffee and it only helps a bit.
Last weekend I thought I had a cold but that was not it, and this weekend my headaches returned, and Motrin as barely helped....
Should I ride it out and not take in anymore caffeine? Will this help?

Sounds like caffeine withdrawl. BTW, Tea has more caffeine than coffee as does some sodas. If you want to eliminate caffeine from your intake - stop all of it. Water and herb tea is nice. PS - watch for weight gain as well as headaches for about a week/week and a half.

Try decaf coffee and tea, kinder on kidneys and bladder too. You may still have headches for a week or so until the caffeine goes out of your system, I drink decaf all the time and cannot tell the difference in taste.

I have the same addiction, and it bothers me that a THING can have such control and power over me. It's tough for you now with the headaches, but think about the freedom you will have once you conquer it. Good luck, and keep us posted.

Are you still drinking things that have sugar in them as opposed to things with caffeine in them?? That could be a BIG part of the problem there ... you can wean yourself off of caffeine but you still need to have drinks with sugar in them and then over time you can wean yourself off of those :)
I drink A LOT of different juices because they have sugar in them but they don't have the caffeine

To get rid of the headaches, drink a SMALL amount of caffeine a few times a day and wean your self off. Otherwise, you will suffer from the headaches.
Green teas have as much caffeine as coffee... it pays to read labels  :D:D:D

I agree it is the caffeine. I was at my inlaws once and developed a whopper of a headache that wouldn't go away. I was maxing out my Tylenol limits with no relief. My MIL asked me if I drank a lot of coffee at home. Yep. She informed me that theirs was decaff because of FIL's cholesterol levels! We made an emergency visit to Starbucks! I was cured. Wean yourself slowly to avoid the headache. Mine was crippling.
