I injured my right arm resulting in a frozen shoulder. It took 7 years for me to rehab enough to be able to sew again. But I stayed focus on doing everything PT told me to do and persistence paid off. I'm so grateful to have sewing back in my life. It's not the same as before and once I learned to accept what I can't change, I freed up energy for the things I can change. I had to relearn how to type, write, etc. You have my empathy and support. Keep me posted on your progress. I have hope you will be able to find ways to overcome this hiccup in life. That's what I call my injury - my hiccup.

My mom was in her late 60's when she broke her shoulder from a fall. They had to tape her arm down too - showering was a royal pain. But she did fully recover within a few months. You have to push through the pain and do the rehab to make it happen.

I broke mine last March. Took about 8 weeks before I could start a little applique, then finally when I finished rehab before I could get back to regular sewing. Cutting was a real pain. Still have a little trouble before and during rain. I have to say I used more than usual wallpaper language before it was over.

Depends on the break I have never broken my shoulder put I've had my shoulder separated twice and it took months to heal I would say it was a good 3 months before I was allowed to do anything. I'm sorry your's is broken you really need to follow whatever the Dr. says if it doesn't heal properly you'll always have issues.

Not broken, but had right rotator cuff fixed. Worst pain I have ever had. It was doing really good after about 7 or 8 weeks, so I decided to do some FM quilting. Bad mistake. It was too much and I am having pain again. I'm sure I just over did it. Am giving it another week or two before I try that again. Hope you heal fast and well. I can't imagine not being able to sew for any length of time. Jwlheart, I cannot imagine 7 years. I shudder to think of it.

I will take my broken ankle over a broken shoulder any day. I know how much my ankle hurts so I can imagine how much worse your shoulder is, I can still sew and hobble around on my cast.

Take care and get better soon..

Had my rotator cuff repaired, too, about 1 1/2 yrs. ago. Took about 3 months before I could even sew without hurting. After about a year, I had lots of pain and "fever" in my upper arm.....had to have a steroid shot for bursitis...I thought that was for "old people"! I'm only 55 yrs. old! (lol lol)
