I contacted my bank this morning when I checked my bank account and found a pending $1.00 charge. I also got an automated message yesterday to call a number regarding my debit/ATM card. I hung up on them. I called the 1 800 number on my check and talked with a representative. She told me it was good that I did not talk with anyone from the automated call because it was a scam. She checked with the originated info from the $1.00 charge and it came from Bed Bath and Beyond. We have never gone there. She then told me the bank will stop our debit card number and issue us a new one. They have a bunch of these coming through today! PLEASE BEWARE OF ANY CHARGES, ESPECIALLY A $1.00 CHARGE because this is the criminal's way of finding out if the account is active. However, sometimes a gas station will put a $1.00 charge on your account if you bought gas....never do that.

Thank you for the information. I have had gas stations do the $1.00 thing before but not anywhere else.

Yep, I had that last year. One day there were like 26 $1.00 charges from iTunes on debit card. Bank said same thing..had to close account, wait for new ATM card, checks, stop all auto payments..just a big aggrevation. Probably came from online purchase (vendor employee). Now I have separate card for online purchases not tied to my bank account.

I had this happen in January on a credit card; $1.00 from Bed Bath and Beyond. I had to close out that number and get a new account with new card. A pain!

I am so thankful that the credit card company caught this charge and called me.
