No, I think it's a waste of money that could be put to better use.

I'd rather see the money go to feed the hungry or house the homeless. However, I'm not an American History Museum Director!

Maybe some of the actors on the "highest paid" list will donate. They wouldn't miss it and could still have plenty left to donate to their favorite really worthy cause.

Can't see how it should take that much money. Sheer silliness.. money be better spent elsewhere

I agree that kind of money could be used elsewhere for the needy. If it's strictly donated money from benefactors of the museum then it's their business. Although there are probably other things that kind of funds can be used for within the museum. Such as procuring artifacts, preserving said artifacts etc.

As long as our hard earned tax money isn't used for such foolishness, it's none of my business.

I wonder if Judy's own family has donated any money. I doubt it. Nothing but some red sequins sewn to a shoe. Decades back I read somewhere she had to wear socks with the slippers because of blisters. they misguessed her shoe size.

Well...it's not my place to tell others what to do with their money. But if it was, that would not be what I'd suggest!

Maintaining cultural history is important and these shoes fit the bill. Money spent on quilt museums could also be seen as a waste but many people on this board attend these museums and quilt history talks as well. What one person values may not be the same as others. Our schools are suffering from lack of funds for arts and creative outlets as well and museums help to provide some creative history to our kids as well. There is always a "better" way to spend money but who gets to decide how people spend their personal money? Not me.

I attend weekly meetings for shoeaholics and even I think this is sheer madness. When it's all said and done they are only a pair of shoes. It seems a bit sad that any one would even consider wasting so much money for this when there is so many better uses to choose from.

At the very least, this restoration should be put out for bid. I,m sure there are many artists, craftsman, etc. that would love to tackle this. There is NO way this can cost that much.
