Thanks for the Internet site on making the doggy toy. This was neat. Used nylon which ravels and has to be heat sealed.
Mainly a big knot and hand crocheting. I'm sure it would go good at dog shows and even on etsy. You can get the rope in many different colors to match the dog's owner's clothes. And maybe even a fleece jacket for the dog in different colors to match..whatever. I think that would be cute and might sell easily.

I had to sneak this out of the toy box and then smuggle it in sewing room. Dogs had played with it in months, but now they want it.
This was made by a member of Airedale Rescue. It looks braided to me. So this is not what you are looking for?

Kathys is braided, and the one on etsy looks like macrame to me.
do you remember when we made the key fob things out of plastic, maybe back in the 60's or 70's? it had 4 strips of the plastic and they went over and under each other.then you pulled it tight, to make the knot..then you looped and folded it , over and under..usually a plastic bead or a wood bead was at the bottom or the start of it, with the clip..we made them in the summer when the schools had summer crafts outside.

Very helpful, but I have never done macrame. However sounds like You Tube here I come. I am a visual learner! Thanks

The dog toy is Plaited. Used a lot in making reins and lariats. You can find many tutes on how to do this if you Google it.

To all of those who helped solve this dilemna: The gal from Etsy emailed me and it indeed is macrame. Thank you all so much! Have a wonderful weekend.

My poor little dog is so unprivileged, his pull toy is just a length of fleece tied in knots. His Mom didn't even think about braiding it.
