That's great. I can't think of a better way to clean up.

Once in a while isn't going to hurt. I don't know about your school cafeterias but ours uses all disposables now. Didn't used to when I was first teaching. Now that is a lot of trash every single school day compared to a single home.

I have to agree with PTQuilts- this practice while quick and easy has to be held to a minimum - we already load the landfills.

Sounds good, but I am a recycler, and don't use a lot of paper products. But then I don't host large groups either. I cringe when I see how much goes into land fills.

I live near Dartmouth College. Every fall they have a "convocation", a big meal for all the students, families, community, etc. Hundreds of people.
The one time I went, a few years ago, they had a goal of zero waste. Washable plates, silverware. Paper napkins and food waste got composted. Nothing wound up in the landfill.

I would be cringing. Paper towels and napkins are for "Show" in our house. My family thinks it's a big deal if they are allowed 1 piece. Paper plates are used for picnics but I wait until everyone leaves and separate the garbage and wash the plastic silverware.

I use linen tablecloths, napkins, silverware, etc. at the holidays. I love to use it and don't think it's a burden to clean up.

I guess us Barbs think alike, Barbm! I don't mind doing the dishes and if you have company that means you have someone to keep you company as you do the dishes, which is a good thing too.
Now if there were a ton of people there would be a lot of them doing the dishes.
