"I have a dream" - historical events
With the 50th anniversary of the famous MLK "I have a dream" event, I was wondering if any of us here attended that famous speech.
Have any of us been present at any other historical events such as ... JFK assasination, Woodstock, the tearing down of the Berlin Wall ... etc.
I have not attended any event that I would qualify as important or historical, the closest I've come is that I happened to be in London on the day they announced they would get the 2012 Olympics. I saw it on TV and said "oh cool" then carried on with my day. I also closely followed the London bombings and the more recent London riots via direct messenging the kids - one of whom was in a different (unaffected) station during the bombings (we didn't know which station she was in at the time so it was pins and needles), and during the riots the other daughter was stuck in a pub that they had locked down.
But if you have attended or been involved with a historcal event, I'd love to hear about it!

The only event I attended was when the boys from our county (Allen County, Indiana) were coming back from Viet Nam. It was a very memorable and heartwarming event, especially when a protester spit on the boot of one of our boys. He was escorted to his car by his friends with a broken nose and maybe a couple broken/missing teeth. Not sure how that happened.
