My husband, mom, stepdad and I are planning to take about a 8-9 day vacation first week of September, going first to Niagara Falls for 1-2 days, then to somewhere in Adirondacks for 5-6 days (we live in Ohio). We had thought about getting a cabin and using that as a base to go out on day trips - or just relax! Nothing real strenuous, though, my husband has a disability and can't do a lot of walking. So, does anyone have any suggestions of where to stay (moderately priced), both in Adirondacks, and in the Niagara Falls area? Thanks, everyone! Any and all help is much appreciated.

I should say although my parents are active, they are in their 70s-80s, and we are 50-ish, so no amusement park, kiddie type stuff! I'd be happy with a secluded cabin in the woods for about a year - or 10. But day trips to interesting places would be good.

My step-dad doesn't want to do the planning, he says he always plans trips. So I told him don't blame me then if we spend the entire time going to quilting shops. But we'd throw in frequent ice cream stops for him. He weighs about 100 lbs soaking wet, but has a SERIOUS thing for ice cream!!

do you have passports so you can go to the canadian side of the falls? I haven't been there in years, but I seem to remember their side was better!!

Yes, we do have passports; I made my DH get one specifically so we could go to the Canadian side, we've heard it's prettier from there. He has never been, I was there once, when I was about 8.
