Default It's been a very long day!!

We waited for Isaac to arrive. He roamed around the gulf and finally decided upon a destination. At first he tried to visit Tampa, but upon hesitation, he was coming to visit us in South Louisiana. He hopped around heading for New Orleans, then not heading for New Orleans. He hopped onto the shore, but hesitated and tried to go back to sea. We went to bed with the generator on ready for when the power failed. Woke up this morning and Isaac was still hesitating. Was he afraid of our alligators, our Saints, or our Tigers? At last he started his slow pace over land. All-in-all it's been a slow, stressful day. Power finally went off about three this afternoon. We had our little puff of wind and sweeping rain. We were thankful to be on the "good" side of the hurricane. As the boy Isaac edges his way upstate (he is now approaching Baton Rouge) he leaves behind damaged buildings and trees, high water, and flattened sugarcane fields. Some folks had more damage than others. All we had was a long wait. And we're told, we have another night and day of rain. I hope he reaches our friends in Arkansas and Missouri who need his moisture the most.

I know I wasted good quilting time, but I just couldn't put my mind to it. What did you quilters do while waiting for the hurricane?

Did a lot of praying that NO would avoid a Katrina repeat...and thankfully, prayers were (mostly) answered...

I live in Dallas Tx. and really need rain, but I've been on this computer ALL DAY AND NIGHT. I'm just worried about all the people getting bashed and smashed around. It's terrible. I hope and pray it quits pretty soon.

I usually pace from window to window while waiting for the hurricane to hit! Can't seem to settle on anything.
9 times out of 10 they come during the night when you can't see anything anyway but I look!
I'm glad you weren't hit hard and hope you won't be tonight or tomorrow.
Some of the pictures from some areas are terrible.
We got 6" of rain and were never closer that about 300 miles from the center on the bad side!

I understand the "unsettleness"!! For the last 2 days, I haven't been able to get anything done...i just flit from one thing to another! From Sunday on, I was forecasting with my Fibro and just feeling anxious! We had a few gusts of wind and intermittent rain most of today and it sounds like it's picking up again now (not going to look tho) Hate it when it comes in the dark. Most of Central and South MS is under tornado and flash flooding warnings. I guess I'm the the bad side too!! Best Friend lives in Baton Rouge and got a short text from her about mid afternoon and they were being blasted.

We were really lucky too, because we were orignally the forecasted landfall. We only had rain and very little wind connected with this storm. Sorry to say I was really glad Issac avoided our piece of real estate. I'm sorry for LA, you folks have enough trouble. I've said numerous prayers for everyone in the path of this crazy beast.

I live in north central Arkansas and I am waiting Isaac to get here. We are 20" below normal in rainfall this year and it will be nice to get some of what he is giving Louisiana and Mississippi. I am heading to one of my lqs (a 45 min drive) in a few minutes in hopes of getting across the lake and back before the winds pick up. I have a couple of things to pick up so I can spend Friday and Saturday being house bound by rain and wind.

Since all I can do is prepare for a hurricane (I was in Miami for Andrew and I think 4 more since being in Central Florida), I have been known to sleep through most of them. My worrying is not going to change the outcome. It is my way of surrendering: withdrawing.

Prayers to all who are hit by Isaac....really wish he'd go where he could do some good (drought areas) rather than pounding on areas that have been pounded on enough!

I watched the ABC news yesterday showing the rescues from Braithwaite, LA. The man being pulled from the roof with his beloved dogs, and then a reporter carrying one of the dogs as he helped the exhausted guy walk was touching. I wanted to give them both a big hug. I hope all the displaced people get back in their homes soon.

The video of the cemetery and coffins was very disturbing. So much sadness.

Oh dear, just heard the news about problems with a dam.
