Please bear with me...
This is a journey in the celebration of April's precious daughter Izabella's 5th Birthday.
This is about a journey of a person with 2-TBI's (traumatic brain injury). There are actually several people on this quilt site that have TBI's~~~even stroke victims; as the journey back is very similar.
IZABELLA's 5th Birthday is Feb. 19th
Izabella's birthday was the push GOD knew I "needed" to take to stretch my brain injuries...to go where I have tried to go and failed miserably at... but was so taken in by April's family that I had to "try" just one more time. I am so glad I did !!!
This has taken about 2 months. Many, many tears have been shed as well as rage and anger...over these clothes and the process of pushing through what my brain could no longer comprehend. MANY seams have been sewn only to be ripped out over and over (maybe I'm a quilter at heart after all). When you look at the pics of the dolly clothes you may not see all the mistakes...but I know they are there...AND I am finally ok with that. It has taken a lot of courage to complete this journey; but the most courage came when I took them to the Post Office and mailed them...with all their flaws. I learned I could cover some flaws...I could even hide them under binding...I even learned if it wasn't working create a way it would..."creative thinking".
April will do the pieces I could absolutely not engage my brain in...bless her heart
THIS JOURNEY HAS BEEN NECESSARY...because the person I was before the accident was a person who had their own company designing & sewing clothes for women, children & babies...this loss impacted me greatly on an emotional level.
I have climbed that mountain and am now on the other side
I HAVE LEARNED: "it doesn't have to be perfect..."it's ok to ask for help". Never take for granted how precious your brain is and what it does for you on a daily basis...for TBI's it's a whole new "do-over" with incredible frustration...unless you have walked even 1 hour in our shoes you will never know...AND that is my wish for all who read this..."that you will never know".
ON THIS JOURNEY I HAVE MADE 2-WONDERFUL FRIENDS...
#1...seam ripper...OMGOSH have we bonded.
#2...Zig-Zag stitch...it covers up so much !!!

T*H*A*N*K***Y*O*U
to all who prayed me through this journey.
Enjoy the pics...

Any doll would be happy to wear those dresses.

I can't imagine the frustration of a brain injury. Some days my so-called "normal" brain has a tough time.
