That's a smart idea! I'm in Ocala, too, and my plantings outdoors are covered with towels, moving blankets, and quilting fabric!! Never thought of leftover batting! Thanks for the tip and stay warm. That North Wind is nippy!

that north wind was near minus 40 last 2 nights in OHIO. I left the bathroom sink running a fine stream so the pipes don't freeze. The furnace quit yesterday morn. Of course it did. coldest day since 94'. saving the scraps to stuff around 2 of my windows that are drafty too. using cotton balls for that right now. going to make 5 cat stuffed mats today while there are no other projects pulling at me. stay warm

With the subzero temps, I was worried about my small dogs' paws getting frostbite. I made some booties by cutting a rectangle 2.5x the length of their paws (just above the ankle). Folded and seamed up the sides. Took a paper punch and punched two holes on each side of the open end of the bootie, and threaded yarn through the holes. Tied them on and it worked.

Did you use anything besides the batting to keep it from getting wet? My daughter has 3 dogs and 2 of them love being out in the snow but with this old they are only out a few minutes but when they come on you can tell their paws hurt from being so cold.

Please DO NOT put batting scraps behind outlet covers-a spark can happen and your house can catch fire-very unsafe

I was thinking the same thing, doesn't sound safe.

For small scraps, I throw in a bag and take to the lady that makes dog beds and stuffed animals for police, firemen, and child rescue services. I don't have the room to hang on to everything.

They make the best dust rags since diapers. Use them with or without furniture polish and wash up great.

Great ideas. I've been wondering what to do with mine.
