Does anyone know why both the caller and callee get charged for minutes used when using a wireless phone?

Depends on your phone plan. We have unlimited minutes to any Verison phone. And we have 450 minutes to use, which we never do.

Basically, you are both using air time so you are both being charged for it. Some companies offer in-network calling plans so that doesn't happen. You would have to check with your provider.

Otherwise, if you call a land line with your cell phone, only you will be charged for the minutes. I have a cell phone but I rarely use it and I don't give out the number so people have to call me at home.

Cell phones are convenient, but they sure are expensive!

I'm pretty sure t-mobile allows you to call any other t-mobile cell phone without charging minutes to either phone. It's one reason they are very popular with college students. Most of my daughter's friends have t-mobile cells for that reason.

That's why we all have Pay As You Go phones. One monthly charge and everything is included. INCLUDING being able to surf the web!
