More about those pesky beetles
First of all, I believe we have so many more Japanese beetles and other worms and insects This year is because we had such a mild winter. At least that is what I read in a gardening article. They not only love my roses, but can't get enough of my Crepe Myrtle trees. I have found that using the jet spray on my hose to knock them off each day helps. Trouble is it must be done every day because they keep coming back. I not only had more of them this year, but they seemed to stay around longer than usual. Thankfully, the roses and myrtle trees are the only thing they seem to like in my garden.

My daughter now lives in North Carolina (wilmington) and she is encountering some new insects that she never knew existed. Yesterday she told me her kitchen had some "lawn shrimp" bugs. That was a new one to me, too.

Wilmington, what a lovely city and so historic. For the past week I have been seeing red ants (about 3/8 inch long) in my kitchen. I can't figure out where they are coming from. And spiders. We have always had our share of small spiders but this year we have so many both inside and out. We can't go out of any door without being attacked by webs. Yuck!!!

I am looking for the milky spore to treat our lawn for the Japanese beetles this year. So far no luck and I may need to wait until the gardening stuff comes next spring. A lot of pesticides and herbicides are banned in Canada now.

Thanks so much for that info. Will definitely try that.
