What's meant by an "avatar" in quilting?

Your avatar is the photo attached to your name. Mine is a quilt I made for my grandfather. Some people use a quilt, a pet, a kid or kids and some even use photos of themselves.

the word avatar on this board refers to the picture, cartoon etc that board members display with their board name.
