I know that every Sunday is a football day for most men. But i too am a huge football fan and wanted to see how many other lady fans there are out there on this board. I usually sew and watch the games on Sundays. My Hubby and our three sons all like different teams so it made Sundays lots of fun when they all lived home. How about you? By the way, i am an avid San Fransico49ers fan!

erstan947 11-06-2010 01:39 PM

Sorry, if you want to have a good time leave me quilting.

Yes Ma'am - right there with you. I'm a Packers fan! Family from Wisconsin & my Grandmother was born really close to Green Bay - for Grandma and family I won't change my loyalty! But really like Tampa Bay too! My husband is a Colts fan, we also like the New York Giants - probably because of Eli Manning. We have a really close friend who is an avid 49ers fan and his wife is a Cowboys fan - tho she refuses to watch them when they're losing! This season has been rough on her!

My husband teases me that I know more about the players than he does! LOL!

P.S. Just made my DH a lap-size quilt and little pillow with Colts fabric for Sunday afternoons!!!

quiltin chris 11-06-2010 02:02 PM

I never used to watch football however my oldest son got me started. I try to have a hand sewing project going--you know how long those games can take!!

BTW, I am an Ohio State Buckeye and very much a fan.

purplemem 11-06-2010 02:02 PM

I'm a Dallas Cowboys fan who is having a lousy season and an Auburn Tigers fan who is having a great season! I watch every weekend. I also follow Alabama, Mississippi State, and Ole Miss. Sometimes Tennessee.

I like the Manning boys and follow their teams.

When I was a freshman at Penn State (in 1958 !), the head football coach, Rip Engel (very famous, much loved and predecessor of Joe Paterno) came to our dorm, brought his blackboard and explained the game to all us girls, complete with diagrams and model plays, etc. I don't know of any other coach who ever did that. I learned to understand the game and I have been a fan ever since. Later, my husband thought it was really neat that I knew the game. Of course, as fate would have it, I ended up marrying a Pitt man, so every Saturday we had a war at our house!

My dad's enthusiasm for pro football rubbed off on me and, needless to say, I always have been and still am the biggest, most avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. I get very emotional about the Steelers and, even though I live alone now, I never miss a game on TV, and I holler and cheer and pound the furniture and jump up and down and curse and cry and just get SO excited - all by myself! As much as I love sewing and quilting, it all has to wait until after the game!

I get too wrapped up in the game--college or pro--that if I tried sewing while I watched I'd lose my needle, sew something to the couch or cut someone with scissors!! I love football (PennState, Steelers, & Titans) and really really love baseball (my poor pitiful Pirates). My friends know not to call me on Sat or Sun (or Monday night if Pgh is playing).

Ditter43 11-06-2010 02:42 PM

Not me, I'd rather watch cars rust then watch football!!

cjomomma 11-06-2010 02:56 PM

I only watch high school football only because DD's boyf is a football player and so is his brother. Right now Murray high's team is num1 in the state championship, with 11-0 wins. Go Tigers!!!

maine ladybug 11-06-2010 03:01 PM

I've been watching and going to games my whole life. My Dad loves football and since he had 5 daughters he taught us all about football at a very young age. I even went to a BOSTON Patriots game way before they were the New England Patriots. So, yes, I'll be watching football tomorrow as I do whenever it is on. GO PATS!!!!!

charmpacksplus 11-06-2010 03:07 PM

After last year's big Superbowl win I think everybody in Louisiana is a football fan.... Geaux Saints!

And I just watched LSU beat Alabama!! Geaux Tigers!

(Geaux = Go)

Marlys 11-06-2010 03:23 PM

LOVE Football! I don't watch much college - the players change & I can't keep up with them. I watch the 2 Montana teams and Boise State because my son goes there. But I very seldom miss an NFL game whether my husband is home or not. And it doesn't really matter who is playing - I just like good football! Someday I would like to see a game live.

Rhonda 11-06-2010 03:25 PM

Football and Figure skating and Nascar are my favorite sports. I can't stand baseball probably because I had to play in PE and hated it.

But I do follow the scores and watch the Pro games. I don't much care for college games as the rules are too differant for me to follow. I have the regs down for proball but not college.

I like to watch most of the games and really don't have a favorite. Tho when they added the new teams a few years back it was hard to get into watching them. I know Jaquars was one of the new teams don't really remember who the other were. I do follow the 49ers and the Green Bay Packers. I also like the Dallas Cowboys but I watch all of them, I can usually tell who is playing by the helmets but not always.

I get bored with the first half usually but watch the second half and really enjoy the strategies used. I have played Chess since I was 5 and am fascinated with the strategy that goes on on the football field! Love it when a play works and they run the ball down the field and get a touchdown! I so love it when I see one player from one team help an opposing player up when he has been hit. They are such role models for the young and am so glad most of them know that.

Yes I LOVE watching football!!

KarenSimon 11-06-2010 03:53 PM

DH is NOT a sports (any kind) fan. I love football. Especially the pros. Denver Broncos is my team. Win or lose!

B. Louise 11-06-2010 03:53 PM

Living near Notre Dame, and having coaches' kids in my classes, I've become somewhat of a fan. My DD got me started watching NFL. I enjoy any game, am a Colts fan. I can't buy my grandkids Colts gear because my DSIL is a serious Bears fan. But I like the Colts blue better than the Bears blue.

tolepainter54 11-06-2010 03:56 PM

I love football! I will either sew or paint while it is on.

Navy Wife 11-06-2010 03:59 PM

We watch SEC college ball, but no pros, of any sport. Love Auburn since 3 kids and 1 GS went there. GA is my alma mater, and DH had his second career at Tennessee. TN is the only one that pays us!

prairiequeen 11-06-2010 04:01 PM

I love this time of year World Series, college football, college basketball starting, and dthe NFL. Had three boys one still coaching.Iam like you no better way to spend a Sunday only problem is Iam a Broncos fan(sad but true)DH is a Chiefs fan. Hes really hard to live with right now.

IrishNY 11-06-2010 05:08 PM

I love football and always have. Grew up watching and can't imagine a Sunday in the fall not spent watching. If nothing else, I love the choreography of the game - one guy throws a pass 30 yards down field and another one is there to catch in spite of 11 players on the other team trying to prevent it. So amazing if you think about it.

littlehud 11-06-2010 06:28 PM

I didn't like football for year. Then had two daughters in marching band. Eight years in the stands made me a fan. I love watching football. I get too excited to quilt during a game though.

EdieClay 11-06-2010 06:42 PM

I am a big Tennessee fan ... In fact, I am watching the game on the TV as I read through the Board info. I have the game on mute and am listening Bob Kesling on the UT network. I love the Colts because Peyton Manning graduated from Tennessee, also love the Tennessee Titans ... hopeful that Randy Moss will behave and just play good football.

kjdavis4 11-06-2010 08:30 PM

I'm a big football fan. Growing up in Texas I didn't have much of a choice. Am now living in Lousiana. My favorite college team is Lousiana State University, listened to them play this afternoon while I cleaned house. Geaux Tigers!! My favorite pro team is the New Orleans Saints.

sak658 11-06-2010 09:13 PM

Been a Cowboys fan for as long as I can remember, really not liking it right now, never was a Houston Oiler fan and not a Houston Texan fan either. Guess that makes me a rebel, since I live in Houston......

Edie 11-07-2010 04:11 AM

I am a Viking Fan, through and through, excluding Randy Moss! What a dork! If anyone read about his tirade at Tinucci's restaurant,it just proves what a loser he really is! We eat there, they have wonderful food. As a matter of fact, Tinucci's offered to their customers the same buffet at the restaurant as they served the Vikings this past Sunday and if you bring in a Randy Moss jersey, you get a free buffet. The Randy Moss jersies (Viking design, of course) would be given to the Boys and Girls Clubs in Tennessee!!!!! We don't want him here anymore! Besides that, Tinucci's gave $500 to the Boys and Girls Club here in the Twin Cities! So, we will see how Harvin and Brett and the boys play today. We have have bad years and we have good years. This may be a bad year, but basically, the guys are good guys! I am embroidering a Christmas quilt, which I am sure is going to take a few years to get all embroidered, so I do that while I watch the game! GO VIKES! Edie

Goooooooooooooo GIANTS!
Love my Sunday football. Have been a Giants fan forever. Made a take 5 quilt w/giants fabric for my gs baby shower 2 years ago and my son was thrilled. One for him is on my list of things to do.

quilt3311 11-07-2010 05:05 AM

If its a good game (not one with one team running over the other) I can watch, but mostly I catch the news and see the whole game in 5 minutes. Hubby watches, I sew.

YES!!!
I will say that I was a bit disappointed in some of the NFL teams. I was chairman of a fundraiser and wrote to several teams for something to auction off. They all wrote back and said no because we were not in their viewing area. HELLO - we live in Montana! We don't have a team here, so does that put Seattle, Denver, Vikings, Packers & Cowboys out of our area. Heck no - we watch them all! I am also a Dolphins fan & you can't get much farther away than that!

Hey fellow "burger"!!! I absolutely love the Steelers!!!!
I get dressed in Steeler gear and yell and scream and pound furniture too! Have been to a few games in my life and that is just so intense and wonderful. Pgh. has the greatest fans in the world!!

Pam B 11-07-2010 05:53 AM

I prefer college football! Purdue football, actually, although they have struggled for a few years now. <sigh> There is nothing like watching them, especially when they are playing in Ross-Ade and I can see campus in the background...takes me right back to my college days! That said, unless I have handwork to do, I generally do not watch football on Sundays. I don't have TV in my sewing room anymore (we don't have satellite in there) so I find myself either listening to music or, watching DVDs. If I were to watch pro-football...it would be the Colts.

Oh my gosh, you and I are alike with football!!! My hubby and 3 sons each have different teams; and the boys all played from 9 yrs. old through high school. I watch their games every Sunday and Monday nights...gives me something fun to talk with them about. Green Bay, Steelers, Dolphins, and Giants are the teams we cheer for in this house. I don't have a team, so just cheer for theirs. I missed the big Steelers/Dolphins a couple weekends ago because I was at my nieces baby shower. My oldest called me on my cell phone at half time to tell me how it was going. Some of the ladies laughed and the others were kind of disgusted hee, hee.

Nanjun 11-07-2010 06:43 AM

Never..............when my DH was alive and watched every game possible I went to computer and spent the evening.

PeggyT 11-07-2010 06:47 AM

Sunday's and Monday's you can find hubby and I in our living room watching the games! During football games I get more binding work done than any other time! I love this time of the year!
