Who would you lunch/ dinner with if you had the chance?

What a great idea! Many years ago we gave our parents and grandparents books to write their memories. They said there was nothing worthwhile writing. NO! So I wrote down as they talked and am so glad I did. Grandma telling about her parents coming to America, Grandpa telling about his early jobs, Aunt Anna's stories of being a midwife (self taught) on the prairie, Dad growing up with 16 brothers and sisters, Mom being a little girl helping in the General Store, on and on. Now I record (on the computer) my own memories of one-room schools, endless canning on sweltering summer days, etc. Not exciting, but maybe my great-great grandchildren will find it interesting. Better print it out as who knows what kind of computers they will have then.

I would pick my baby brother who killed himself 10 years ago October at age 50. I miss him every day.

I would love to see my Nana again, she was my step great grandmother, but I really wish I could have spent more time with her. My first set of in-laws. I wish I could tell them how much they meant to me . They were more loving parents to me than my own and I was just too young to see it. Can't think of any "famous" people off the top of my head. For the people I never knew names etc I would love to get with some of the old Wise
Women and Shamans from way back when and learn from them. They knew how to live with Mother Earth and not abuse her.

I would love to have lunch with my maternal grandfather. He deserted my grandmother when he learned that she was
pregnant with my mother.

My other choices would be Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton and Margaret Sanger.

Your question reminded me of a guest my sisters and I shared lunch with year before last. We had been at a Christian conference in Colorado Springs and the vocalist was Babbie Mason. Following the last session, we went for lunch in the hotel complex. My two sisters had gone off to shop while I held our place in line. Babbie arrived alone and, on impulse, I asked her to have lunch with us. We chatted and, impish sister that I am, I put her up to going into the little shop my sisters were in and calling them by name as if she knew them. She happily agreed to indulge me and my sisters were amazed! Babbie was just delightful and we so much enjoyed lunch with her. She even sang (beautifully and tastefully) our grace. What a blessing and a treat for all of us sisters!
I'd love to have a meal with so many people but I am grateful for the opportunities to break bread with wonderful folks I've taken advantage of. Hope I haven't missed any and will be on the lookout in future for more. Thank you for triggering such a wonderful memory!

Hm... good question. I think I'd start with my Great Grandma Anne. I never met her but everyone says I look exactly like her. Her youngest brother even called me Anne everytime he saw me. My Papa, he passed away a couple years ago and it's still hard to get through July. George Washington, Ronald Regan, Eleanor of Aquitaine, Derek Jacobi, Patrick Stewart, and Many Many more!!!

Am I the only one that wants to have lunch or dinner with Kevin Cosner? Preferably dinner.
I would also like to have dinner with my Mom and Dad, my 2 sisters, and 3 brothers who are in Heaven now.

As much as I would love to lunch with some of the other's mentioned (i.e. Jackie O, Katherine Hepburn, etc.....), I would choose my "real" Dad who died a month before I turned 3. I have a lot of questions I would ask. I was blessed with the best step-dad ever later on....so I consider him my Dad now, as he raised me. I don't think I would choose Jesus like some of you, though. I would be a fidgety mess through the entire lunch! LOL

Yes Scraps I did realize.. there are so many that I didn't mention that I would love to meet again now that I am an adult. My father died when I was 12, I would love to hear his voice again. The memories are still there of our "special times together".
The family stories that I have heard about a bunch of my relatives-I would love to meet. Freedom of the slaves, the wars that they served in. Supposedly our family history is back to General Washington's time for the family members who served in it.

Sister Theresa would be a great choice to hear her virtues on life. Oprah is a magnificient person as well ..
