I've been wanting to do this in my garage as the concrete refuses to stay clean even right after it is damp swept. I've read the DIY site on how to do it but it sounded hard to me!! I think the hard part might be keeping my "helpers" here...my 2 sons and grandson!!

I put down the base coat and am waiting for a warm/sunny day to do the "bricks" ...I found a large sponge about the size of bricks and am going to start at the steps and go to driveway...will post picture when I'm done...as far as sealing, I don't know what to use? this sure will improve the approach to the front door LOL

Painting Cement to match bricks
i'm thinking of doing the same thing, more or less. Due to "helpful" friends when my kids were painting my house,
I have some white paint stains on my brick planter bed and on the cement walk. Paint is very, very difficult to remove from cement..read..impossible So I'm going to do like I saw once on a Christopher Lowell show, paint the darn thing.
I don't want the cement painted another color, so I'm going to take in a brick that matches the rest and have Home Depot match it so I can paint over the white, also paint the cement walk to match the brick planter bed and cement
handicapped ramp. Which also has some splashes of white paint from my dear son-in-law putting in a solid and lovely
metal and wood railing. But he also dropped some paint...time got away from him and he had to report back to base..
so I still have some spots on the ramp. It's annoyed me for far too long...gonna do something about that soon.

On second thought, maybe that sponge thing might give a far better look to the front of the house. And a brick ramp might be far prettier than just a plain color. I'm going to get my rubber gloves right away..thanks for all the lovely ideas.
I knew that you folks were marvelously talented, I'm going to steal lots of your ideas. Thanks a lot, you are SO helpful!!!

Ive been thinking about trying this on front steps. But would prefer to use a stain rather than paint. I think the paint will chip over time and then not look nice at all. For me a stain which may fade or wear is probably going to look more natural in time. Any thoughts or experience on this? I just need to find the stencils to do it.
