I've heard you all, that are more experienced shippers of fabric, talk about shipping up to 12 yds of fabric using flat rate USPS @ $4.95.
How in tarnation do you actually pull that off!!!!! I currently am surrounded by fabric I have to ship out and flat rate cardboard envelopes and the Priority Tyvek (which are not flat rate priced) and my head is spinning!!!
PLEASE share!!
Thanks!!

Flat rate boxes is what I think they are talking about- They are free at the post office-In my small town I have to ask for them if I need more than one or 2 as they only keep a few out- If you have a lot to ship you can order more for free online and they will ship them to you at no cost.

You probably need the flat rate boxes (not the flat rate envelopes). Here is a link to the actual sizes and their associated price to send. The boxes themselves are free at the post office; you pay only when you actually mail the box. (Scroll down to see all the sizes and prices.)

I agree that my head spins when I contemplate using these!

Another thing that's kind of neat are the Regional Flat Rate Priority boxes. They are only available online, the same with postage, but they are much cheaper to send if it's a short distance.
I needed some things sent to TX that I forgot in OCK. Regional Box/rate was almost half of othe cost.

Wow. Didn't know about Regional Flat Rate Priority boxes. Here's a website that explains the basics:

Does look a whole lot cheaper!
