Any tole painters out in quiltingboard land?? I have a bunch of Ceramacoat by Delta Tole Paints that are probably 15-20 years old. Are they still good once shaken up? Or, should I toss them all. Thanks.

I'm a tole painter....or was before I got into quilting. I have some paints that are old, too...probably as old as yours! If you're going to paint, just check each one. The problem isn't that they dry up, it's that the paint gets little tiny particles in it. You won't get a smooth paint job. I have used some paint that was 20+ yrs old and it was fine --- and I've used some that was 1 yr old that had problems. The old CeramCoat paints were the best and seemed to last the longest. The new CeramCoat is worthless in my opinion!!!

I do a little tole painting, not as much as I use to (don't the work area anymore). The old CereamCoat was my favorite.
Check each bottle, some maybe good, if not toss out.

I like Folk Art paints. I do mostly one stroke painting now. Some of mine are old and I add a little water and shake well that works with some of them but not all.

you really have to open them up and smell them...they get air contaminates in them and can mold, so they will smell sour!

Those older paints were the best...now I use the folk art pigmented most of the time!

Mine are at least that old and I just shake them up and turn up side down in the tote. That helps keep the air from drying them out.
