I am working on my Mom's autobiography and I need a program that can bring out the faces on old photos. I have Irfanview which I have used to darken and clean up photos but it won't hone in on just one spot on the photo.

I looked at Photo Shop online but there are several versions and I dont' know which one will do what I want.

There are pics of mom's family as kids the faces are hard to see. Using Irfanview I did manage to get one out of 4 seeable but the other three are just blurs.

I want a program I can buy or whatever that will allow me to manipulate parts of the picture instead of making changes to the whole pic at the same time.

I don't want these pics to fade away and be lost. We would like to be able to see more details in the pics.

Any advice is more than welcome! Thanks!!

I've used photoshop for years.. and I've had several versions... all versions that I've had allows u to isolate an area and define detail.. They also have " Dummies for Photo Shop books" , Photo Shop for Idiots Guide, etc too....
I've used Corel as well.. it's ok, but not quite as user friendly. IMHO

Have you called a local photo shop to see if they can suggest which program you need or if they could help with restoring the faces on the people in the photo? I was looking at all the options and I could not determine which program would be best suited to your need.

Call your local schools and talk to the computer science teachers to get some leads.

Do a search online for some free photo editors and you may be surprised at what you will find. I basically use Paint Shop Pro which has been bought out now but I think it may still be available. Chrome even has some free ones that may be helpful.
