Locker hooking uses a crochet hook with a hole in the end. Large grid canvas, string and fabric scraps. Here is a video that showed me how to do it. I did while I watched the Men's World Curling Championship on tv. It took about 10 days to make.

I love Locker Hooking and keep a container for 1 strips. I cut leftover small strips of WOF into 1" strips and make placemats, tabletoppers, hot pads, etc. between larger projects. I never buy the string, I use odd pieces of dishcloth cotton in longer pieces -- helps to avoid excess knots. It is lots of fun and can be done while watching TV. Supplies are available on Amazon and at Hobby Lobby.

Wow!!! One inch strips and you were able to maintain the rug in square. Beautiful and congratulations. I, too, have been collecting strips to try my hand at crocheting. Will likely take the course from Crafty.
