There was some talk on here about a credit card being safer than a debit card. Mostly because a CC will stop payment etc,but debit card won't.

We've used a debit card for over 20yrs with no problem, but just to be safe, did talk to a bank officer about it.

He said our Visa debit card is treated just like any CC by Visa.Same safety etc. Just wanted to let others know that. It's easy to check, a ph call will do it.

I feel safer with a credit or paypal. Don't want someone having access to my bank account!

I went even one step futher, I opened an account in another bank and keep a small amount in it for online purchases. I use my debit card or paypal but it's all tied back to this small bank account. They can't get to my main account because it's in another bank. I told the bank that this was my play money for online purchases, I just add money to it as needed.

Good Idea- seperate acct.. ..
We just use Amex.. They handle the situation quickly and hassle-free..

This is what I did too... it is linked to my main account so that I can transfer funds over to it when I want to make a purchase, but it has it's own Debit card.

You wand the debit card to have a Visa or MasterCard logo on it, so it is treated as a credit card for these purposes.
A plain debit card does not have as much protection  :D:D:D

I use my debit card as a credit card. It's safer that way and Mastercard pays the charges, not the credit union, which helps keep credit union fees down. I've never had it refused as a credit card.

I don't have a debit card. Makes my money harder to spend.
