Warning computer worm
#11
DH got a a horrible virus on his computer, destroyed everything. Norton showed the warning as the virus was destorying eveything....Norton did nothing to stop or warn before it hit. Had to wipe the computer hard drive and start over. We now have one of the best, we have heard and so far is doing a great job, it is free....Microsoft Security Essentials. Go to Microsoft on the internet...only Microsoft....it is a free download.

I caught one of those buggers at work and it actually blew away part of our security program. IT had to reload my computer. These malware programs often attach to the background even if it appears that they are gone. DEFINITELY run a scan on your computer and I have to agree that Norton doesn't seem to keep up with current viruses and other cyber attacks.

Norton is the worst program there is. Kaspersky is very good. It is expensive, but it is so worth the cost. Walmart sells it for about $60.00. It is what many computer techs use. I have had mine for years. I renew it every year and would never want to be without it. I can never understand why people will spend huge amounts to buy a computer and then not spend money to protect it.

there is a fix for that worm at symantec.com. it is very difficult to get rid of, though, even if you follow the directions exactly as they are given. it is worth a try, though. part of this worm is that it continually duplicates itself, and keeps showing up as informing you that you have a "virus", or by showing something that is "near porn" to show that you are "infected". the other poster is right--if you click on any part of this box or little window, you have downloaded it onto your computer. it might be worth taking it to someone who know how to completely delete it--or at least talking to them. good luck!

To completely rid yourself of worms & virus' try Malwarebytes.com. Download the free version and run a full scan. My computer repair place uses this program. When you see a worm happening (that popup box) try to click the Malware link on your desk top immediately and run the program. DO NOT CLICK ANYTHING ON THE POPUP BOX. Not even to try to close it. Clicking is what sets the worm free.
then click on: TASK MGR - PROCESS TAB, HILIGHT ALL: iexplore.exe ONE AT A TIME, YOU MAY HAVE MORE THAN ONE. Then click END PROCESS.
