Does anyone know of an on-line reference on where to put quotation marks? Or, more accurately, the other punctation like periods, commas, question marks, etc. at the end of the word/phrase that is in quotation marks?

This is only one of the many places you can get this information. Google "punctuation rules" and you get a long list of options.

(I make up my own rules). Not really, I just do the best I can do. the s really messes with me. 's is plural? s' is possessive? Can never remember.

I learned that different countries and style manuals sometimes place the ending/closing quotation marks differently.

If there any editors out there - feel (somewhat) free to correct my posts if they are punctuated incorrectly.

my boss always nails me for commas. i finally had her write down her rules for me. i have them on a sticky note where i can always see them.

she's leaving soon. how much do you want to bet the new boss has different rules?

It's handy to have an "official" guide or style manual around to settle disputes.

I guess the "boss" would get to pick the book. Hmmm . . .

When my students need to use quotation marks I suggest they grab a book from the shelf and copy what is done in there.

I find I am remiss when on the computer, but doing my graphic work I am spot on. I wonder if we shorten everything on the computer.

Advice from someone who's seen lots of these fussy types.

SMILE, agree and thank them for correcting you. Remember to
do it their way, right or slightly off wrong, he/she is the boss. When she/he signs that letter, then it is their fault it is incorrectly written, if it is, if you get me!

Ain't English a confusing language?
