With high prices of vegetables, have you noticed how many more people are turning to gardening? I have a friend who is helping me put in a big garden this year. I have became very health conscience and this will not only give me lots of fresh vegetables, I will also get exercise which I desparately need. I really get a thrill out of watching things grow. Last year I started learning about canning and freezing.

Good for you. I also grow a good number of my own vegetables each year. Salad - ten minutes from veg patch to plate - can you get any fresher. And the taste!!!! And as you say, keeps us active, no food miles, so good for the conscience too!

I love to garden, just don't know how to do it. One time I even watered the weeds!
I'm learning and enjoying it.
Check out books from Jerry Baker at the local library. He does a lot of things the natural way, no chemical envolved. I like that a lot.

I love it, but due to my fibromyalgia I have to limit some of my activities. I have 1 raised garden and have requested another for Mothers Day.
Containers also help. I had green bean plants in with my flowers.

I really want a garden out back. We moved in last year, and I just didn't have the time, and it being our first spring and all. Would like to do it this year, but it means I need to get started NOW!

I started Square Foot Gardening in raised boxes a few years ago. I just love it. The soil stays so nice because no one walks all over it. I can't live without fresh tomatoes, herbs, eggplant, cukes, and squash in my garden. This year I am experimenting with some Burpee seeds for smaller, compact container veggies like dwarf cukes, zuchinni, etc. I will grow them on my deck in pots, but I will also grow full size ones in the boxes just in case.

Lettuce, spinach, and peas are up, potatoes are planted, tomatoes, squash, carrots, cukes, melons, corn, and beans go in next week. I moved from NH to southern Indiana last summer. Can't wait to eat a real, vine-ripened tomato again. YUM!
