Why I quilt and don't bake
#1
It was my son's birthday yesterday and he wanted a strawberry cake. Of course, I made him one. I decided to make it marbled and had left over chocolate mix. I made two small chocolate cakes. I made the mistake of getting sugar free frosting (what is the point of that) and that thing doesn't spread easy. The cake got stuck to the mold, broke into a few pieces, I tried to put it together with frosting and it broke even more. I should leave the baking to those who know how to do it.
Not very appealing

I remember years ago when I baked a two layer cake (I love to bake and am pretty good at it) which came out great, I frosted it and set the plate aside. As I picked it up to bring to the table, it simply disolved into a pile of crumbs with frosting mixed in. My kids ate it in bowls with spoons...never waste anything you know.

And this is how cake balls came to be... when you have a goof up, just dump the baked cake and frosting into a large bowl together. Mix well and roll into balls. Let cool or if you have time, freeze. Spear balls with toothpicks, dip into melted chocolate and let cool until chocolate hardens. Yum, Yum, can't eat just one. Works with all cakes and any type of icing.
