Hi - My name is Jil and I live near chicago - I have lots of quilt tops and am so intimidated by the quilting itself. But NOW I AM DOING IT!!! I am NOT having fun, though, because I find it so tedious. I love the quilting fabrics, battings, threads, embellishments, books, web sites. I love piecing - the designing, the colors, the overall look. And I can't stand the quilting. I want this to stop. So, I am currently completing a quilt for a dear friend of mine and I am persevering. But I hope to make it a more fun part of the process.

Hello Jil, welcome from Southern California. My favorite part of making a quilt is NOT the quilting, I really enjoy the piecing and cutting and selecting fabrics. However, there is nothing like the feeling of finishing a quilt and getting it to the intended giftee. It will get better as you get a few finished. Just try to relax and don't stress about it too much (I should take my own advice) I have a pile of about 8 quilts that just need the quilting, but I have "finished" over 80 quilts so far.

Hi Jil and welcome from Texas. I agree with you...the quilting part is tedious. I finally gave up and let my friend/longarmer do that for me. She is so good and really fast!

Hello Jil and welcome from the Piedmont of North Carolina.
I think there are many of us that feel the same way you do.

Hi and welcome from NY. I'm with you - I find the quilting to be very tedious and I don't enjoy it at all. Used to be I was ashamed to admit that, but now I don't care. I like to piece, so that's what I do and I send the tops out to be quilted. I don't really have much spare time, so why spend it doing something I don't like? I do, however, quilt the charity quilts. They're usually smaller so they go faster, and it would be way to expensive to have them professionally done.

Welcome from California, Jill. Just take your tops to a long arm quilter and have it done. I do frequently.

Welcome Jil from NE CA. Glad you found us, we love pictures. I think the quilting will get easier (or I hope for my sake) as you get more experience.
