Hello! Im Juliana. I am a 25 yr old mom of two and military wife. I was blessed with 2 sewing grandmas, both quilt and one was also a seamstress. I got the best of both worlds. Been sewing since I was 5 (lacing cards) and using a machine since I was about 8. Though Garndma S wouldn't let me use the rotary cutter until I became a mom  (I was soo impatient as a kid) I has been really into digital scrapbooking for the last 4 years and gotten away from sewing, though I did work as a seamstress at a local draperie shop for a year which was a blast. I just started making things for my family again.

I have quilting ADD. There are so many beautiful fabrics and patterns, I have about 5 quilts I'd love to make, and one Im working on that I've put aside so I can start another. Grandma S is sending me her copy of The underground railroad sampler so I can start on that (soooo excited!!)

We just moved up here in the spring, and with my oldest starting kindergarten this year, the long winter, and an impending deployment schedule for my husband, I am looking at a lot more time for sewwing. I am excited to have found this little circle and Can't wait to meet you all.

Welcome from Souther California. Where did you just move from? We are in the Point Mugu area. My husband retired in 2001 after serving 20 years with the Navy. We decided to stay in this area and love it. I have been in your shoes, we had 4 kids and my DH did 6 deployments and many many schools that took him away from us for a couple of months each. I have a daughter in the Army reserves who in on her way to Iraq, (should be there end of Sep) and a son in the Navy in training in Pensacola, FL. Thank you and your husband for your service (you serve as much as he, keeping the homefront together)

Welcome, Juliana! I'm also in Washington. My oldest daughter spent 4 years in the Air Force, and is now in college.

I am concerned, though. And I'm saying this as someone old enough to be your mother. Only 5 quilts that you want to make? ARE YOU KIDDING? OK, you have kids to take care of and feed. I'll give you a break!!!

Welcome to the group!

Thats were we move from!!! we lived in houseing on Pt Mugu, and before that we lived in oxnard out in the el rio area behind costco. My husband is Navy too, he is an NC now, so we are back in the fleet. Thank you for your encouragement. Im actually glad we are back to sea duty lol Its a refreshing change of pace for sure. Best wishes to your daughter, I have some friends their now, and good luck to your son! btw: that fire is in Agoura hills, and they just shut down the 101s to one lane at liberty canyon, Stay safe. if we were there it would be the one day we had to go to LA for something!
