Welcome from your neighbor to the west - Missouri! Maybe you can ask around and find someone who will mentor you. Ask at your church too. Once you start asking, I am sure you will find someone!

Welcome from South Florida!
I am also self-taught (still in pre-K level). Books, internet, and quilting boards like this.
And don't be afraid to try. My first quilt was/is a king size with 12" drop on all sides. I am just now finishing the hand quilting.
Is it perfect? Far from it!! But it's mine. I love it and I can't wait to put it on my bed. (In fact, we had a cold spell the other night, and my husband put it on the bed with pins still around the edges. He assured me he wouldn't hurt the pins).

Lee Ann welcome to the Board from Oregon. Love to hear about new quilters. The Missouri Star tuts really are great quilts to start with. You don't need the precuts, just cut your own fabric.
LJ: You really made me laugh. What a great husband!
