Hello, all! My name is Katherine/Kate and I am a new quilter very excited to have found this site!
I am the stay-at-home-mom to two beautiful girls under 4, and stay-at-home-wife to my law enforcement officer husband of five years.
I have a long history of craftiness and fancywork, but mainly in the crochet arena. My husband actually has been encouraging me to start quilting (I'll remind him of this later when my fat quarters and scrap baskets start piling up - ha ha!). My mom is an avid mental quilter (you know, she has all of the magazines, all of the books, all of the sketches, all of the best intentions, but none of the actual finished (or really even started) quilts), and my grandmother was an avid actual quilter of necessity, leaving a legacy of scrap quilts tacked together and filled with remnants and wornout remains from hundreds of homemade clothes.

Hi and welcome from Southern California. Isn't wonderful to be able to stay home while the kids are young. I got to be home for 20 years, went back to work when youngest of 4 was in in 7th grade.
Welcome to the world of quilting. It is quite addicting!!!
