I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, and welcome you to Quilting Board. This message board will be a great way for quilters from all over the world to share experiences and ask questions. As you look around, you will see there are currently two folders in which to post. This folder being the "Introduce Yourself" allows us to share a little about ourselves. This is not expected to be a place to ask questions.

The "Main" area is where we will conduct more dialog. This will be the folder for sharing sites, tips and requests for information. If I catch a question in the introduction folder, it will be moved to the main area. That way it is more likely where you will find an answer to any questions.

That being said, let me tell you something about me. My name is Boo and yes that is what I am called in the real world. I have been quilting for 25 years and am a fabriholic. My home is in Lansing, Michigan, USA where I live with 2 cats, 4 birds and one very zippy long hair chihuahua named Zippy. I do piecework at a LQS where I am paid in fabric. A tough job, but someone has to do these things.

Denise 11-22-2006 07:32 AM

Hi my name is Denise, I'm new to the quilting world and loving it. I live in a tiny town called Tangent, alberta, canada. I have three dogs 2 wish were strays and one I hand raised from birth. I also have a double yellow headed amazon parrot. I started buying quilting books after i watched a quilting show last yr. I read alot about quilting and watch as many shows i can. I took one quilting class and that was a disaster. I had to take some of the blocks apart and redo, they were not lining up and it look terrible. the block has 30 pieces alone in it. They instructor told me not to bother, because she said it could be fixed by squaring it. I sure glad i didn't listen and redid it. The other ladies were not happy because of how the quilts turned out, (they were all crooked). So I'm still learning and teaching all by myself, and of course if i'm not sure about something, I'll go ask at a sewing store or go online and see if someone can help me. I love it and still makes me very nervous to cut material, but it's getting better :? . My husband also just purchased a janome 300E embroidery machine. WOW now i have alot to study about sewing and i must start creating some projects. Only major complaint i have about quilting the days are to short  Happy quilting everyone, Denise.

Nanner, welcome to the quilting boards! I show that you have posted 6 times so far, so fear not, we know you are there and welcome your input. If you will notice the first page is called the Forum Index. Currently there are three catagories; Main, Introduce yourself, and Links and Resources. As you scroll down the page you will see a legend that tells you the meaning of each icon. Maybe this information will help you familarize yourself with the workings of the postings and how to determine if there are any new posts for you to read. Hope that helps. Let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

hi, I'm Julie. I am new to quilting, although I've been collecting fabric for a few years. I made a sampler wallhanging in a quilt class I took through our local library. Now, I'm hooked. My MIL was an excellent quilter and I developed an interest from her. Sadly, I didn't start til after she died, but I feel like she is watching me and helping. I just wish I could stay home, and quilt all the time, but then I couldn't afford the fabric! Darn! I don't know often I will be able to come online, but it's nice to know you are all out there willing to listen and help.

Hi, My name is Pat, and I have been quilting since 1991 and I have made queen bed size quilts for all of my 4 sons & wives, and some for my 7 grandchildren, and even 4 for my 4 great grandaughters. I am a quiltaholic !!!! It calms my nerves, and I just love to see how different fabrics come together in a quilt. I am always dreaming about what my next quilt will look like. I do my piecing on the machine, then do my quilting by hand. I still am not fond of machine quilting. If I can help anyone out there about quilting, I will do my best to answer your questions. I am not an expert on every quilting subject, but I do try.
My husband and I have been married 53 yrs. and we are retired and we do not have any pets. We live in a very small town in Indiana, and have lived in the same house for 47 yrs.
We give God all the glory for all good things in our lives.!!!

Sincerely Pat B.
