I am returning to quilting after six years. I did not start making quilts until I was 59 years of age. At 62, I decided to pursue a doctorate degree and went back to school (school came first). As retirement got closer, I realized that I would be crazy to spend my retirement funds paying back student loans so, I took leave from my program. I am retired now (after 35 years of teaching) and trying to adjust to not doing something I really love (teaching). To get back into quilting, I took a course for beginners recently and had to learn to use my Bernina again.

Welcome to the Quilting Board and thank you for teaching our kids for so many years. The quilt shop I work for is owned and managed by Lisa, a retired educator.

I taught at the university level. There were times when my students acted like they were in grade school.
