Question... how do you end up with a 10 inch block after you have but and sewn so many pieces at 1/4 seams?

I think that the finished block is 7" square

Really nice tutorial and just what I love to make up to use my stash and to have for charity or gift quilts. I have been wanting to do a bargello quilt and the others on the page look interesting also. Many thanks.
