Default 505 spray adhesive Have you ever used this product?

Someone told me that this spray adhesive was good to spray on your rulers to keep them from slipping when doing ruler work on your quilts. Has anyone ever used this and if so, how did it work? thanks

I tried it and the only thing it did was to collect copius amounts of lint and then I had a devil of a time getting it and the lint off my ruler.

I would worry about it damaging the ruler since it is plastic- have you tried the little rubber dots on the back of the rulers to stop the slipping ?

Read ALL the information on the back of the can...good stuff there. For instance KKK2000 says that denatured alcohol will clean the product off rulers, cutting mats, etc. I also use plain rubbing alcohol to clean up my rulers and mats.

HMMM, I know that a piece of backing fabric that was over sprayed about a year ago is still tacky. I would think it would help until it picked up too many fuzzies. I would then wipe it off with the alcohol (if it wasn't a ruler with markings on it) and re-spray. I would try rubbing the ruler first with a little alcohol to make sure it didn't harm the ruler before using the 505.

505 is the best basting spray for quilts, but I would never try to use it on the backs of rulers. The grip strips from guidelines4quiltings are the BEST thing I have ever tried for rulers (and believe me, I've tried a lot of them). If you purchase, buy at least 2 packages because you are going to want them on every ruler you own (and the June Tailor Shape Cut mat, if you have one). Here is a link to the site that sells the grip strips:

there is a product called Visigrip or Invisigrip that works well enough. Comes in a roll. it's like cling wrap. cut it a bit smaller than your ruler and lay it on the back.

DON'T USE IT ON ACRYLIC! Ask me how I know...removing it from my acrylic ruler also took off most of the markings. I used it solely to smooth a quilt I was spray basting and it was a wreck. I also couldn't get it off my acrylic nails...I now wear rubber gloves when I'm basting.

That said, I LOVE it for spray basting quilts, and would never go back to pin basting.

I've used the Invisigrip. The "grip strips" from guidelines4quilting work a *lot* better for me!
