    Default Also have a half square triangle question...

    All my triangles are already cut. (2500 of them...). How do I piece them so I don't lose points when I sew my rows together? Folks tell me it'll work, but I just don't see it! Help!

    Does seem like you will lose the points in the quarter inch....watching to see the answer. Good luck.

    Yes, you are going to lose the points. The triangles on either side of the point should overlap when sewn together at a point 1/4 down from triangle pointed top.

    Tartan, this is the info I hadn't been able to find! You don't happen to have a couple of HSTs you could lay out to Show me, do you? If I could see it in process, it'll make more sense. I'll go see if I can make that work.

    I always start my HST's larger than required and trim down. Tedious - especially w/2500 of them! Yikes! BUT, the end result is that I normally don't lose points. Worth my time/trouble. Especially for a quilt that 'counts'.

    Be careful where you place your bias edge. What pattern or block are you trying to piece???

    Looking at that tute, the overlaps of the two side triangles happen at the same place. Ok.
    Ah, nurtz! I've been sewing triangle pairs at a time, with edges matching, not adding one at a time in rows. I've already done 202 pairs. Sigh. (Chain stitch too easy. This isn't going to be one of those quilts, apparently!)
    I'll start again. Um, I have enough to work with, I think. LOL! (Not unsewing yet, at this point! Ha!). Now to calculate how many triangles to stitch together per row...
    Taking a break now, though. A bit discouraged. Maybe after supper...?

    Maniac, no particular block. My thought was to sew them all together in continuous flying geese-style rows, then sew the rows together. So, yes, the bias edges will be the length of the rows. I'm up for the challenge, even for a novice quilter! I guess I'm brave? Thoughts, cautions, alternate suggestions to keep me from throwing the whole thing in the trash?
