    Default another delima

Seems like I am always finding these tiny little mistakes on a finished quilt. The latest one is where I sewed the backing together. I thought I was being so careful sewing the two pieces together. But, somehow I managed to leave a little bit of the white selvage showing on a strip about 3 to 4 inches long. The quilt was already half way quilted when I found the spot. It is gray backing. Any suggestions on how to "fix" the boo boo?

I have fixed my little problem like that with a gray matching permanent marker to color the white. You make the same mistakes that I have made so don't feel you are alone.

get permanent ink markers and fill in the white.

another reason to remove the selvages before sewing the pieces together.

I have never tried it, but have heard of using permanent marking pen to color in areas.

You can appliqué a label over the area, stating the name of the pattern, who it's for, date, and place of where the quilt was made.

I have a nice colour selection of sharpies for little fabric boo boos. Get as close to the colour as you can but use a scrap to try it out first. If it looks like the colour is close then colour in your selvage. If you can't get it to match then make a label to cover the spot. I did a pretty label for my sisters quilt when I noticed a flaw in the backing fabric after quilting.

Micron Pigma pens in colors are great for things like this.

I always remove the selvedge before sewing together......the weave is tighter in it and the seam will distort......just the way I do it.......

I have definitely learned a lesson. I will remove the edges from now on!
