I find I can get the scant 1/4" by moving the needle over, however, when stitching over a bulky area such as where seams meet, the foot can't handle it. My project shifts all over the place.
I believe it's because all the feed dogs are not being utilized. Does anyone know if the newer 1/4" foot from Janome, the 02 would solve this problem? Thanks!

The O2 foot does help with this, although it doesn't cover all the feed dogs. I find that using my Accufeed 1/4" foot works best, if you have a 6600 or 7700.

I finally got the 02 foot and what a difference...I have the 6600P there is a little button on the machine that lifts the foot up when going over really thick seams and still stitches wonderfully...You should ask your dealer to show you this.

I think they are referring to the little black button on some of the feet that you can press at the edge of the fabric so the layers don't slide and the foot will stay horizontal.

With the 6600 you should be using the Acufeed anyway. I had the 6600 and thought it sucked using the regular 1/4 foot, hated that machine, so I traded it in for the 7700, same problem, until they came out with the redesigned 1/4 foot for the 7700. It has a little indent underneath that makes the whole difference.

You might want to get the redesigned foot for the 7700 to use on your 6600 if you don't want to utilize the Acufeed for the bulky stuff.

Also, you might try lessening the pressure foot when you have heavy seams. I usually move mine from a 7 down to a 6 or 5 on my 7700 and did the same thing when I had the 6500 I traded the 7700 for. Worked just fine. You might even try using a stylette point to give the fabric a little nudge when sewing across heavy areas. Good luck.

I have had my 6600 for four years now, and I absolutely love it. My 1/4" foot is awesome. We all like different machines, which really makes things interesting on the QB.

I've always used the Accufeed 1/4" foot and never had any problem... other than human error, of course. :-D
